Here is my final installation on using QR Codes in Education. I think there are a lot of ways that QR codes can be used throughout the library. Students are constantly on the forefront of technology. Nothing will grab students' attention quicker than a bit of technology introduced into the regular monotony of the school day.
Mystery QR Codes
In an effort to promote reading over the winter break, you can create "mystery" QR codes that link to book talk videos posted around the school. Print QR codes that link to six book talk videos promoting new books for older students in Grade-6 to Grade 8. Then place them in different areas throughout our school and wait for (the inevitable) tween curiosity to take over. Repeated the same message at the end of each video: “Stop by the library to check out a book before winter break and if you mention this video, I will give you a treat!” It won't take long to film six short videos talking about the books, and a few minutes to upload them to Vimeo or YouTube and then create and print the QR codes. Finish by mounting them on construction paper and labelling them "Mystery QR", posting them around the school and wait.
Promoting Books and Extending Learning

By using a QR code generator, the librarian can print out a copy of the code and stick it in a book. Scanning the code will take you to a digital resource with reviews, summaries, audio versions or other related material. You can also provide a link to the official trailer of the book on the author's site.
Alternatively, have the students work in groups to create podcasts of books they have read and to save them use QR Voice, iTunes, etc, and then placing them in the back of the book. This will allow students in the school to hear their own schoolmates' reviews and it will provide a level of authenticity while also engaging students creatively.
By using colour-coded QR codes, which can be done through many of the QR code generators available, the library can separate the various genres of books, making it easier for students to identify books that interest them. By using QR Snipp, numbers can also be put into each QR code to differentiate the year level of the book being read.

Streamlining Research
QR codes can be scanned to save, copy and/or email information regarding a particular resource that you are searching in the library catalogue. This will make it easier for students to keep track of resources found when conducting research.
For example, when searching for a book on the San Diego University State Library website, and you click on the actual item record, you will see a QR code at the bottom of the page. Scan it, and you’re given the title of the book, the call number, the floor the book is on, and if the book is available.

Bookmarks
Use QR code on bookmarks which will take students directly to the mobile library website or specific pages on the website. The QR code on the bookmark for the Syracuse University Library Learning Commons takes you directly to the library’s research assistance page.
Information
QR codes can be used codes to provide information about library tutorials and orientation programmes.
