Here are some great ideas on how to use QR codes throughout the school. By all means you don't need to use all these ideas, be creative or see what's out there on Google.

Paint a tree on a blank wall in the main foyer of the school with a QR code on each branch of the tree linking parents to important school websites. Examples of important websites are:
- School & school-board webpages
- Social media (Twitter, Facebook)
- School library blog
- School digital gallery
- Monthly parent poll

- School administrators can drop student event pictures in online storage such a Dropbox or Google Drive. They can then copy the share link into a QR code generator and print the QR code to be pasted up in the foyer of the school, or to be put in school newsletters, on the school webpage, etc. It is important for schools to make sure that pictures are not accessible to just anybody.
- Create QR codes for videos of students engaging in various classroom activities and post them in the respective classrooms on Meet the Teacher night. This will give parents a window into daytime learning.
- Hi-light Meet the Teacher Night brochures with student documents, year-end projects, past performances by school band, drama, and sports clubs, as well as school websites. This will give parents who are unable to attend curriculum night a window into “school life”.
QR TagsQR codes can be placed on school materials that are loaned out of the building. The code will contain a note stating that the item is school property and include the school’s address. | Virtual TourCreate QR codes and post them around the school. New parents and students can take a tour of the school and learn important information at every stop. Each QR code would have an audio, video, or written description of the area, as well as information on where to go next. |

- Create a QR code on the front door of the school that links to a welcome message, hours of operation, and the school website. For a school open house, set up a scavenger hunt with QR codes giving information about school life.
- Create a weekly or monthly MP3 recording of information about the school. Post the MP3 to iTunes and link to the location using a QR code. This code can be posted in a variety of formats for the community to access.
- VCard: School principals can create a QR code that acts as a business card with their title, e-mail, school address, school number, and website. They can then put this QR code in e-mail signatures and business card
You can also use an application like JumpScan to make a more detailed profile which can also include all the school's social media outlets, blogs, sites, etc. - Use a QR code to list special dates and holidays which the parent can then easily download into their preferred calendar apps.
- The student enrolment forms could contain a QR code providing details about documents that need to be provided or the dates and times for each open house.

- On a calendar in the school, QR codes could be added to all the away games for sports teams, which link directly to google maps locations, so that parents know where their children will be, and how to get there in case they want to support the team.
